I applied online. I interviewed at Boehringer Ingelheim in Mar 2022
Interview
A recruiter contacts me on Linkedin, we set up a call but she missed the call entirely. I followed up with her on Linkedin and she gets back to me apologizing for missing the call due to an emergency, which is totally understandable. We rescheduled the phone call and I gave my salary expectations. She forwards my resume to the hiring manager and also tells me to apply to the position on the career page.
The recruitment team then contacts me for an interview with the hiring manager. Few weeks go by with 0 communication even after following up a week after my interview. Finally the silence gets broken and I am invited to speak with a senior member of the team. During that interview I reveal that I am having final round interviews at BI's competitors. Within 1-2 days I get invited to the final round interviews. After I receive the email invitation, the recruiment team follows up with "I should let you know, you will no longer be considered for the Scientist II position but the Scientist I position instead because you don't meet the qualifications." I ask if we could discuss further over email but they decide to call me unnacounced to talk about the downgraded position. Instead of explaining why this happened, they try to sell me on the new position by giving me a sales pitch, "well you get a 10% bonus!" which I thought was extremely condescending. I find out that the downgraded position was 10k lower than the low end of the salary range I gave, which she confirmed.
I confronted the recruitment team's lack of professionalism over email and they admitted that they didn't catch the fact that I don't meet the requirements for the position until I was to have my final round interviews.
It is appalling that the recruitment team at a large company such as BI can fail to do the most basic task of recruiting - properly vetting the applicant's CV for compliance with the position's requirements.
When I talked with the hiring manager during our interview, she told me that she did not have the required number of years of experience for her position, but her hiring manager liked her enough to hire her. There seems to be massive issues with internal equity if she could get around the hiring requirements for her position but for some reason I can't with the Scientist II position.
This sheer incompetence from the recruiting team has turned me off from BI for good. If you want to attract and retain talent, then fix the broken recruitment process and hire actually competent recruiters because job seekers are no longer putting up with terrible behavior from recruiters any longer.

Interview
Informal and relaxed. The HM was very friends and kept the conversation light. Lasted 30 to 45 minutes and ended with Q&A. Overall got great vibes from the company and saw opportunities for internal growth

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Boehringer Ingelheim (Ridgefield, CT) in Mar 2023
Interview
Initially I had a phone conversation with a manager. It was a panel interview with four scientists and I was asked questions about my experiences in previous roles as well as my reason for wanting to work there.
Starts with a phone or zoom interview with the team leader. From there, it’s an in person interview where you are asked questions from the team you would be working with. The questions pertain mostly to your experience and how you handle working in a team.
