I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Bed Bath & Beyond (Sterling Heights, MI) in Apr 2011
Interview
Definitely hard to get your name out there when you have little to no retail experience. The way in which the store I had applied for worked was you had to know someone in order to get your resume pulled. It was quite rare for a person with no experience to get their resume pulled and an interview set up, unless they really needed people.

Interview
Came in for an in person interview, lasted about 30 minutes. Asked for previous experience - rundown if resume. Then asked scenario based questions. What would you do if x happened. How did your previous experience relate, etc. Got a call with a job offer within 1-2 weeks and orientation began shortly after.

3 questions. My feeling was that they just want a warm body. Stocking and cashier work. Minimum wage. They asked me if I go to the bathroom a lot... Apparently they were having issues with that. Thought was odd, declined offer. I will go to the bathroom whenever I like to, thank you very much.
