I applied through college or university. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Barclays (Mumbai) in Sep 2014
Interview
The recruitment process was a part of my campus placements. I had to fill in an application form which included three concept review questions. The form was quite extensive and many details were required to be filled in. After the submission of the application I had to give an online assessment test which consisted of three sections. The three sections were :a multi-media Situational Judgement Test which presents a range of situations in which one may find himself as a graduate at Barclays,an Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ) which evaluates your typical or preferred way of behaving and thinking in the workplace, and one ability test which is timed. The next round consisted of a written test which was divided into two parts. The tests were based on Inductive Reasoning and Situational Judgment. They were fairly easy tests and many practice tests are available online. The next day we had to clear two rounds consisting of a group case study and a group exercise. For this the selected candidates were divided in groups of 5 . For the group case study, each group was given a case study and the members had to read the case individually. After period of about 10mins. wherein the members were required to study the case, each group had to face a panel of two and discuss the best and optimal solution to the given problem and also come up with a cost-benefit analysis. The discussion period was 30mins. after which each member of the group had to present the solution that they came up with. The presentation had to be completed in 10mins. thereby giving each member of the group approximately 2mins. to present. A question-answer session was then conducted where the group was required to answer the questions of the panel assigned to them. The group exercise was a fun round where the group again had to sit in front of a panel and play a game. The game was simple enough and we were given a practice time in which we had to come up with an estimated time that would be required by us to complete the actual game. Penalties were given in case the time taken by the group went over the estimated time or if the group completed the game before the estimated time. Once the game was completed, the panel asked questions to the group regarding the strategies among other things. The last day consisted of three rounds: an online technical test, a technical interview and a hr or strength-based interview. The online test consisted of three tests based on Java, C++ and SQL, each test lasting 15mins. and was of a multiple choice type and was time based. The technical interview was of about 30mins. but in some cases it stretched up to an hour or so. The strength-based interview was designed to know our strengths and weaknesses and we were required to answer questions by giving small real life examples. The panel at each interview varied between one and two personnel.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The most difficult part of the interview process was the online technical test which was conducted on the last day, for majority of the candidates. The questions on SQL were simple enough but the Java and C++ tests were difficult. The basics need to be very strong to clear these tests. In java codes were given and we were expected to find the errors or check whether the code would get compiled and if yes, what would be the correct output among other questions. In c++ the questions were on the basics of the language, but as the subject was taught in the first year of engineering, not many people were able to answer the questions.
