      Graduate Hardware Engineer Interview

      Dec 18, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Cambridge, East of England, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Arm (Cambridge, East of England, England)

      Interview

Applied online by sending my CV and covering letter, got a response within a week inviting me to a Skype interview. Prior to the interview I had to email over my Skype username and a copy of all my university module grades. On the day of the interview I got a phone call (15mins late) from the interviewer asking for my Skype details (which I had sent to them). Interview started off with him asking me to run him through my cv, in which he constantly interrupted me and did not let me finish explaining some of my experiences. Had to then again tell him all my grades, which he should have. After this it was straight on to technical questions. Most of these I have not studied in 3 years so I should have revised a lot before hand. I was disappointed that there were no "why do I want to work for ARM?" Sort of questions as I was unable to show any passion and enthusiasm for the job. Overall my communication was not great (probably because of the tone of the interview made me very uncomfortable) but neither was his, and whole process showed (to me at least) a lack of communication within the company.
