Applied online with my name and contact details, and got a text the next day telling me to call this number. I called it and was registered for an Argos recruitment event and an received an email telling me where and when it was. The email said the event would last 90 mins and would consist of group work and a 1 on 1 interview. When I went to the event there was about 20 people in total, and I noticed that most late and I was one of the very few who bothered to dress smart for the interview/event. The first hour consisted of getting everyone filling forms asking for contact details, availability, education and past work. I had to wait a long time for people to finish their forms and for the staff to get ready for the next section. Personally I thought this was a waste of time and could of easily been done online, and the staff could of been better organised. We then watched a 10 min video on Argos from the 70s to now and then was asked to introduce ourselves and tell us everything some thing interesting (it turned out quite a few people applying were ex-Argos employees). We were then split into 3 groups and asked to present a question. My group's was what makes good team work. After that we were all told to go home and the staff would email us if we were successful for the next stage.
Since I had previous experience in a warehouse and made a good impression with the staff, I thought I'd be called back, but I got an email the next day saying that I was unsuccessful. I feel like that if I actually was interviewed, I'd have a good chance.
