Met applied material team at university's career fair. I was soon contacted for an on-site interview. Interview day consisted of several interviews with the team member one by one. Questions were mostly asked related to my past experiences and projects. They also took me for casual lunch. In the end a tour of the lab was given.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Nothing too difficult. Most questions were related to my past projects and experiences.
I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Applied Materials (Santa Clara, CA) in Apr 2013
Interview
My PhD advisor knows an upper exec at AMAT, so I emailed them directly. He forwarded me to one of his Senior Directors. I mentioned that I was graduating soon and would be visiting the Bay Area, so he asked me to come in and speak with some people. It wasn't officially an interview, but it felt similar. I spoke with 4 senior directors for 30 min each, mostly about technical issues.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The interviewers asked very detailed questions about the technologies I would potentially be working on, and the potential difficulties in getting them to market.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Applied Materials (Gloucester, MA) in Mar 2013
Interview
After 30 minute phone interview, was called in for serial interview: first with HR then with 4 engineers, each 30 minutes. Questions were general and friendly, and each interviewer asked a technical question, a simple physics problem on paper, asking "how would you approach this?" Overall it seemed to go well.
