I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Mar 2019
Interview
Long process with five interviews but very friendly and relaxed experience. The questions are mainly related to previous working experience. No brain teasers or puzzling questions. Interviewers were making me comfortable with no pressire and asking follow up questions in case they needed more details.

Question 1
Main questions were about my previous experiences and focusing on describing particular past situations when I showed some of the Amazon leadership principles.
I was contacted by a recruiter at Amazon. After an intake I completed 2 rounds of phone screens. I completed a 5 person onsite loop that took 4.5 hours to complete. This was a long tedious process. I would recommend you do your research before you engage.

Tell me about a time when you sacrificed short term gain for long term success.
What are you curious about.
I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon (Arlington, VA) in Apr 2021
Interview
The process was way too long, about 3-4 months overall. I advise you not to stop looking elsewhere when you are going through this process. Had three phone calls, one with a recruiter and then two hiring managers, then the interview loop with five separate folks (most from other teams), and the process went into the evening hours for a full day so had to use a vacation day at work. It took weeks in-between each step of the process. Very draining! The interview loop was the most difficult to get through. The interviewers weren't unfriendly but they weren't friendly either, they seemed emotionless (or maybe just burned out and not invested in the interview) and I didn't feel like they tried to get to know me as a person at all. Out of the group, only one of them had a personable conversation with me. The questions were VERY metrics-focused. Too metrics-focused. Even if you spoke about something that was work in progress they wanted a metric and dinged you if you didn't have one. I also had to write a 2-page paper beforehand and NO ONE mentioned the paper at all in the interviews. Honestly, I don't even know if they read my submission. After the final interviews, I didn't hear anything for a week and had to reach out on my own for status. Shortly thereafter I received a rejection via email. Although disappointing, I think I may have dodged a bullet with this one.
