I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in May 2019
Interview
Applied online, then received interview invitation from HR. Interviewed with hiring managers for two phone calls. SQL live coding and behavior questions. Very fast process, completed within 2 week for 2 phone interview.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Amazon in Aug 2016
Interview
Just like everyone else. Lots of people asking the same behavioral questions that you read on the internet. There is the so-called "bar raiser" that is an interview that is there to check more than your technical skills. It is checking if you are "raising the bar", in other words, better than 50% of similar employees
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Apr 2019
Interview
Focused on the Leadership Principles. When any of the interviewers wanted more details, they dug several levels deep -- there's not fooling most of the interviewers. Come with concrete, metric backed examples.
Email from recruiting coordinator to schedule phone screen. Two phone screens -- hiring manager and her right-hand person. Three morning interviews (one w/ a person shadowing a bar raiser conducting the interview), lunch w/ a buddy and three afternoon interviews. Left feeling pretty exhausted and challenged.
