I was reaching out in LinkedIn from the EMEA HR for an open position in italy. During the call i heard about the famous Amazon principles Who are driving the business decisions and way to work and i was so impressed. I decide to proceed for this opportunity and after have passed the HR interview, they planned a second 1 hour technical interview. When they told me i passed the stage and i was ready for the final interview, i was really happy. The last hiring stage was a 4 interviews of 1 hour each to complete in 1 day. I decided to proceed and i took 1 day holiday. The interviews were interesting and all of them regarding the Amazon principles and examples to made
After a couple of days, amazon sent an automatic email reporting i didn’t pass the final stage and “While we're not able to provide additional feedback or information about this decision, we would like to keep in touch regarding future job opportunities.”. When i red the email i was a little bit shocked but not for the decision, but for not having had the decency to receive a reason for their decision or at least a proper email from HR. none of this. in fact, they are not even able to give the reason. fortunately one of the moral principles of amazon is to behave correctly and help people grow by giving constructive feedback.
considering amazon loves facts and numbers so much, if I had to draw a conclusion from this, the famous principles of amazon do not exist and it is exactly like all the other companies. Dear human resources of amazon, it is deplorable to see you demand days off from potential candidates and you do not have the decency to give a feedback to your final candidates.
perhaps I was lucky not to be subordinated to a company that wash their mouth with principles, coerente and all the other Amazon things but at the very end they don’t respect any of them.
Again, is not question to pass or not the hiring process, but not share feedback and reasons so the candidate can grow
Really a bad esperience to forget
