I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Jun 2015
Interview
The interview process was 98% behavioral. Tons of very specific questions about situations and how I handled them. Also had to write a two page essay, which none of the interviewers read. "I would rather hear you describe your answer than read your essay," say the lazy interviewer. They also seemed obsessed with questions about failure.

Question 1
Name a time that your manager wanted you to do something, you didn't want to do it, but you did it anyway.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Amazon in Feb 2015
Interview
Was approached by a recruiter on LinkedIn. She assured me that the hiring manager wanted to talk to me, even though my background did not include the particular technology area. I insisted hiring manager look over my profile first, and his response was that I looked like a good fit, but was worried that I wasn't passionate enough (because I guess I was so concerned about not having a background in that tech). Still, recruiter set up a phone interview with hiring manager, nothing different than what is already reported here, though he seemed to be fishing for reasons not to proceed with me (like asking for things not on the req). He liked my answers, said they were reasonable or 'good answer'. All behaviorial and a bit about what I knew about the technology area (which was some, since I did prepare ahead of time). I think overall he was just convinced that no matter what I said, I wasn't going to be passionate about the work. I think that is unfair and wonder if I had been someone different if he would have been so picky about something he originally said didn't matter. It seemed more like the classic case of making up his mind before the interview and trying to find confirming evidence that his decision was correct.
Regardless, my advice to others is not to show any weakness whatsoever, even if you have doubts...no matter what they ask or how sincere they are about wanting to know your feelings or fears, don't say them. It would be better to go through the interviews and let them see your actual abilities rather than have them fault you for being cautious and concerned about fit from your perspective.

Question 1
The usual, a deep dive into my background, tell him about a product I developed, the issues with it, the people issues, etc. And of course, the usual what is my greatest weakness, etc.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Amazon (Gurgaon, Haryana) in May 2015
Interview
Obviously, I am not too happy the way my candidature has been processed at Amazon but you can take your own call.
I applied for Technical Program Manager at Amazon, Gurgaon. However, I was processed for Software Dev Manager, which I was told is the "same things" as TPM and thus I did not raise any concerns.
On the day of the interview, I was called at 12:00 PM and I was there at the said time. Even after reaching on time, my first interview happened only at 2.30 PM.
This interview went on till around 3.30 PM and I thought I performed very well in this round. In hindsight, I do think there were areas I could have answered better but nothing went horribly wrong.
This was an entirely soft-skills oriented round.
About 45 mins after my interview (4.15PM), I was told that the first round did not go too well but I will have to be evaluated on the technical front. I waited till about 6PM.
At around 6PM, I was told that I will have no rounds for that day and that I am not being considered anymore for SDM. However, I will be considered for TPM and I will "definitely, definitely" be called in by "Monday or Tuesday"
No call came either on Monday or Tuesday and on Wednesday, I emailed to check my candidature. I am guessing this email is the reply to that follow up.
I posed some questions to their HR with no response:
I have not been technically evaluated so far. What went so horribly wrong in the soft skills interview, that I was dropped from both SDM and TPM positions?
Why was I not processed for TPM separately than SDM?
In the entire day from 12-6, I had just one interview while others had 3-4. Why was I asked to wait 2.5 hours after my first interview only to tell me to go?
When I was promised a round of technical interview for the TPM position, why was I not contacted for the same? Are you suggesting that something went so horribly wrong in my soft skills interview, that technical evaluation was not required anymore? I am sorry but I am having a hard time believing that.
I have always believed Amazon to be a fair opportunity employer but my personal experience has not been that great.
