I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Vancouver, BC) in Jun 2015
Interview
I was contacted my an Amazon recruiter offering me a SDM role in a team matching my experience. The recruiter told me that the role would be more managerial and would not require coding background. On the phone I was interviewed by another SDM who really drilled down on the details of some projects I had worked with. I was able to answer those at least satisfactory but at the end of the call there were some coding questions that I did not know. Overall I felt like the interview was more about coding background than managerial experience.

Question 1
How would you find and return the middle entry from a list of records?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Bengaluru) in Nov 2011
Interview
The interview process started with a couple of phone screens. There was a gap of about a week and a half between the first and the second phone screen. And then after some follow-up (as I had another offer), and 3 weeks later, the onsite interviews werr scheduled. I went through 7 rounds of onsite interviews on the same day, with interviewers varying from Architects, Dev Managers, Test Managers, Bar Raiser, Hiring Manager, HR to a VP level. Overall, the experience of the day was pleasant. In about 2 days from then, I was called by the HR for the negotiation on salary and notice period, and then I got a follow-up call the next day from the VP to reconfirm the offer. There wasn't much haggling on any of those, as then I wasn't too good with salary negotiations. However, after joining, I realized that Amazon is one company where one should negotiate as much as one can, not only at the time of interviews, but also when you are inside the company. That was one thing that I didn't like about Amazon.
