I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Amazon
Interview
I received an internal referral and was contacted by the recruiter for a phone screen. The phone screen was pretty laid back and didn't even feel like an interview. The recruiter sent me quite a bit of documentation to prepare for the next interview, which was much appreciated. The next interview was interesting, as the person interviewing me seemed a bit unprepared for the interview. Overall, that interview went well and I moved to the virtual onsite. There was again a check in call with the recruiter to find out if I had any questions regarding the onsite. One thing I did appreciate is that I received the list of people interviewing me well in advance of the interview - that meant I could spend some time looking them up and finding out their roles.
The virtual onsite was exhausting - between the system design exercise and all the leadership principles questions being sent at me rapid fire, it was quite draining. One thing that didn't work so well was the virtual whiteboarding - in one case it worked well, in another case the interviewer couldn't see my board when I shared it. I did share that feedback with them in the survey I was sent following the interview.
The other challenge for me was despite my thorough preparation and having enough stories ready, I was getting asked similar questions by the interviewers. The first person asked me so many questions that I exhausted many of my stories, and so by the final round I feel as if I wasn't able to give really good responses. Interestingly enough, one of the interviewers commented during the interview that she had seen this happening more frequently in interviews. I also was asked the question that I had already answered on my writing sample, but the person interviewing me let me go ahead and use that story since they hadn't read the writing sample.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
All questions were centered around the leadership principles.
Familiar approach to interview structure...initial recruiter conversation, followed by phone screen. Next round would have been another phone screen followed by a virtual on-site interview with multiple sessions. The initial recruiter conversation ensured that we were aligned on basic skills, experience, and compensation. The second interview (phone screen) went very granular into the specific job role and associated qualifications.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon in May 2020
Interview
I have applied for a Technical Program Manager role in Analytics. I was contacted by the recruiter, and with in a week asked for my availability and had first round of phone interview with in 10 days, after that in next 1 week another round of technical phone interview. Almost after 3 weeks of my second round of interview, they have asked me for Loop interview virtually because of covid. Over all it took almost 1.5 months of my time , the process is stressful and long.
