I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Cape Town) in Oct 2024
Interview
I was asked very basic and broad questions, seemingly unrelated to the actual position I was interviewing for. The interviewers very friendly though and very accommodating. There were about four other people who were interviewed on the same day. Spoke to one of them after and they said theirs was terrible. I wouldn’t go as far to say mine was the same but it definitely wasn’t great either.
Interview process was smooth. I attended 2 technical rounds of interview. I did not get any call after my 2nd round of interview. You are expected to write complex sql queries.

Totally deceptive job advert. Did not make it to the interview. The job posting barely mentioned SQL, noting only at the bottom "SQL experience."
A named person from HR contacted me, sending a link to an "online assessment" that covered "Amazon's leadership principles." Nothing else was mentioned.
The actual test turned out to be 110 minutes on advanced SQL coding. Of course, had I known this, I never would have applied. Complete waste of my time and theirs. They can ask for whatever they want, All I ask is that they make the job posting accurate.
