I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Philadelphia, PA) in May 2011
Interview
Interesting Process overall. Included several phone screens with recruiters and then a phone interview with a Sr. Ops Manager from a site near the location for which I was applying. A second recruiter then contacted me to schedule and on-site interview. There were several dates to choose from for upcoming "Interview Pods". Once the date was set, a third recruiter contacted me and was my main point of contact through the rest of the process right up to the offer and signing the employment contract and coordinating initial contact with the relocation company.
The Interview was a 1/2 day on sit interview. In included meeting the other applicants, a math flow problem and then the typical set of interview questions from multiple people in 3 sessions. The fourth session included a presentation/debrief of the math flow problem. Followed by questions from the interviewer concentrated on the ability to use limited date to make operational decisions.
There was also a facility tour at some point. I can not remember if it was before or after the round robin interview sessions.

Question 1
It was not the questions that were unexpected. It was the structure of the day. Upon arriving, I was greeted and escorted to a conference room with 8-10 other applicants. We looked around at each other, knowing who the competition is. The math Flow Problem may have been unexpected had the recruiter who coordinated the process had not briefed me on what to expect.
One additional item that was unexpected. The offer was contingent on a drug screen - like most offers. However, the drug screen is not completed prior to the start date. It was actually conducted on day one of employment, during orientation week.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Amazon (Chennai) in Oct 2012
Interview
I got a call from Amazon informing me that my resume has been shortlisted and I have to attend a phone interview. I prepared well for the interview and on the given day got the call. The interviewer was warm and professional. He asked some straight questions but I felt he was expecting some technical terms in my answers which would let him know the processes we follow in our current organization. He asked me about performance management and PIP and also the metrics used to measure employee performance. I gave my best replies but felt it was not enough. Immediately after the interview I was informed that I have not been shortlisted.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon
Interview
Initial phone interview was with an HR representative from Seattle. The interviewer had specific questions in order to decide if a follow up interview was warranted. Received follow-up interview by a Senior Operations Manager who asked specific leadership questions. Successfully completed the second interview and was flown to the Columbia facility for final interview by four personnel. Was not selected for the position and no reason was given nor did I ask. Received another offer from a different company.
