The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Jan 2010
Interview
After two initial phone screens, I was invited up to Seattle for a series of on-site interviews with two different teams. I started at about 8:30am and finished around 3:30pm, with several of my interviews running long. My last interview ran almost 45 minutes over its allotted time, but it was mostly because the open ended challenge problem allowed for significant discussion.
I spent the weekend in town and interviewed on Monday, and in general had a very pleasant experience.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Given a set of N servers, design a system to aggregate statistics (disk space available), and create reports (min, max, total, avg).
Given a set of N numbers, assume that you have the set of numbers from 1 to N+1, with the exception of one number. How do you determine what number that is? What is the complexity of your solution?
It started with an OA, and then after a few weeks, I got invited to four rounds of interviews: technical and behavioral at 3 of the 4, and behavioral only at one.
I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon (Calgary, AB) in Jun 2026
Interview
Online Assessment is the first step in the process. I didn’t have an HR phone screening and went straight to the OA after applying. It was sent to me about a week after I submitted my application.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The first question is LeetCode style algorithms question, and the second question gives a full stack repo (choice of Java, NodeJS, or Django) and asks to solve a backend issue which is causing a bug in the frontend. Unit tests must pass to pass the second question. You can run both backend/frontend indivdually or together
