I applied through college or university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Amazon in Feb 2013
Interview
Submitted through campus site, got an on site interview scheduled. It went really fast, doesn't feel like two hours at all. Interviewers are really nice helpful people even if you don't know the answer right away. A lot of behavior based questions(They ask for details as well, so know every sentence in your resume). Couple math questions. Nothing unexpected.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA)
Interview
I had two phone interviews, and then a half day on-site interview. It started with lunch and then progressed to back to back 30 minute interviews. Everyone was incredibly nice and kind. When I started to get flustered in one of my interviews because the questions were really tough, I stopped and retraced my steps. It seemed to go over well and it's totally okay for you to say "Wow, that's a hard question".
I was also surprised at the dogs! I knew dogs were encouraged at work, but I was expected lots of small and toy sized dogs but I was way off the mark. I saw tons of big dogs.
I was given an offer the week I interviewed. The HR/Recruiter I worked with was very straight forward, answered all my questions and was just in generally incredibly helpful.

Interview
Spoke w/ recruiters at the University career fair. I received an email about two weeks later inviting me to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview consisted of typical behavioral (tell me about a time...) and opinion-based (why your major, university). I received notice two days later inviting me out for onsite interviews. The onsite interviews consisted of a dinner the night before with the interviewers and HR. The next day was 5 interviews, 45 minutes each. You are either given a morning or afternoon interview slot. The interviews consisted of opinion, technical, an behavioral questions.
I received notice four business days later offering the position.
