How would you explain the variability in the data set?
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Allstate
Interview
Basic technical phone interview. Talked about coding practices and object oriented design. Also asked about my own technical experiences and what I'd do in various situations. It was pretty much a combination of technical and behavioral interview with plenty of questions. They didn't ask any sort of algorithm or data structure questions but instead focused on Java and also a database question.

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Allstate
Interview
Applied online, and got a phone interview two weeks later. The person I spoke to was very kind, and told me about them self and about the job before getting into the interview questions. If you were well-prepared and read the job description, interview was very straight-forward. About two and a half weeks later I got an in-person 4 hour interview, with several interviewers, panel-style. Every interviewer was very pleasant to talk to. Some tough questions were asked, but I think I managed to end each conversation on a positive note.
