The interview process is complicated but not that difficult if you know what they are looking for. The IMS team looks for people who are willing to work hard, travel, work hard, operate independently, travel and did i mention work hard? There is the IQ test (no tricks there) and the testing which looks for what i mentioned above. Individual interviews are hit or miss - I had four interviewers who weren't too difficult and if you know someone at the firm it will give you a HUGE advantage.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at AlixPartners (Londres, Inglaterra) in Dec 2012
Interview
The hiring process at AP was long! There were multiple stages and they were as follows:
- Phone interview
- One-on-One Interview with a member of the team
- One-on-One + group interview with other members of the team
- 4+ hour Personality test and IQ test - Alix is very focussed on "team fit" and will not hire you if you fail "the AlixPartners Test"
- Phone interview with a company psychologist
- Phone interview with the Global MD of IMS
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
As I conducted many interviews after joining as well, the interviews are more like personable chats with conventional questions such as -
- Why do you want to leave your current role?
- Why do you want to join Alix?
More importantly, you are judged upon who you are as a person; do you have a story? Are you a rounded person? Are you able to hold a conversation? And most importantly, can Alix put you in front of a client, without feeling embarrassed?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at AlixPartners (Dallas, TX) in Nov 2012
Interview
Interview Process can be drawn out due to multiple interviews with consultants who often have travel and client obligations first. Can be up to 3 weeks between rounds (for some coworkers). Professional and extensive testing - no case study as is common in the industry. 4 hours of testing, including phone interview with psychologist. Basic quantitative reasoning tests.
