It’s already demotivating to work with verbally abusive partners, but I feel like it’s almost worse when the “nice” partners don’t call out the behavior. Partner 1 demanded a draft within a v short timeline. Partner 2 shared his thoughts that it was an unnecessary fire drill with me. I sent the draft within the timeline (admittedly not my best work). Partner 2 made a few revisions and sent it to client. Partner 1 then emailed me and Partner 2 saying that the draft looks AI-generated (it wasn’t),
Anyone else noticed that female associates tend to be treated less harshly by partners? It's like this Gordon Ramsey meme where if I make a mistake, the partner calls me a 'fucking donkey,' and if a female associates makes the same mistake, it's "oh dear, oh dear. gorgeous".
How do you figure out whether a firm actually has enough work for new associates? Looking for a good lateral opportunity in the TM/copyright/tech transactions space. Don't want to stall out with a firm that might not have enough billables despite a job posting/summer associate hiring, especially since soft IP as a practice seems to be dwindling across a lot of biglaw firms. Would also appreciate any recommendations for firms with robust soft IP/tech trans groups.
Harvey has replaced any need I have to work with students or juniors. I feel bad for them and I’m sure I’m next, but damn.
Who lasts longer at a firm with 2,000 hr target - hitting 2,000 and doing solid work but not perfect vs. great work but hitting 1,600 hours.
Elite group. Aren’t they representing Google?
