When Paula Francis drove into Texas with nothing but determination and a packed car, she didn’t know what would come next. No job, no safety net—just the drive to take her career to the next level. Three weeks later, she joined Unifi as an Ambassador. Less than two years after that, she became a Duty Manager. “I didn’t have it all figured out,” Paula says. “But I knew I was ready to work hard and start something new.” That spirit has defined her journey ever since she left Jamaica at age 14. Landing in California in 2009, she began navigating a new culture and building a new life. A few years later, college took her across the country to New York, where she shifted focus from physical therapy to business. “I’ve always loved airplanes,” says Laura Herrera. “There’s just something about the sound, the energy, the way everything moves so fast — I knew aviation was where I wanted to be.” It didn’t take much convincing. Laura's cousin worked in the industry and would come home with stories that lit a spark in her. A few months later, she joined Unifi — and nearly two years in, she hasn’t looked back. As a station trainer, Laura wears many hats. But for her, it all boils down to one thing: teaching. “Some days I’m at the gate; other days I’m at the ticket counter. Either way, I’m helping someone new,” she explains. “I’m showing them how to move the jet bridge safely, reminding them about PPE, helping guests who need extra assistance and making sure flight crews have everything they need before departure.” Read More: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/i-teacher-im-now-laura-herreras-flight-path-aviation-unifiaviation-wd2ne/

This April, Unifi proudly celebrates the 25th anniversary of Eduardo Romero—an outstanding team member whose journey in aviation has been defined by service, compassion and a deep love for connecting with people. Eduardo, who currently works as a bag room agent at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) supporting Alaska Airlines, exemplifies the values of passion, integrity and empathy in everything he does. Eduardo’s aviation career began in spring 2000 at Anchorage International Airport, where he worked as a cabin cleaner. It was a role that introduced him to the fast-paced, people-centered world of airports and allowed him to interact directly with passengers and flight crews. “Even in that role, I liked being helpful and making sure the crew had what they needed before the next flight, lending a hand where I could and greeting passengers,” Eduardo reflects. After eight years in Anchorage, Eduardo and his wife relocated to Seattle in 2008. “The winters in Alaska were too long,” he says. “Not enough sunlight for my wife. So, I asked for a transfer, and we made the move.” His dedication to both his family and his work led him to continue his journey with Unifi in a new city. “I’m not great at this,” James Rogers says with a laugh, before launching into a story packed with challenges, determination and passion. Twice in his career, James was passed over for roles he was already performing—first after months as a step-up supervisor in a warehouse, and again in the same job, when he was told he couldn’t “think on his feet,” despite praise from his previous boss. “I’d been doing the job already,” he says. “But somehow, the goalposts kept moving.” Aviation wasn’t on his radar until a conversation between his wife and her colleague opened the door. “She told me about an aviation security company who were hiring. I was hesitant—dyslexia made me worry about the written tests. But I needed a change.” read more: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/youve-just-got-keep-going-james-rogers-grit-growth-loving-oxirc/?trackingId=k5wFX8QLSuyGOVuO6%2FJ3zw%3D%3D

Monica Green’s journey from beauty industry entrepreneur to Duty Manager and Trainer at ATL Airport is one defined by passion. In just eight months in her role with Unifi, Monica has already made a profound impact on the employees she serves—bringing her lifelong love for aviation and deep respect for people into everything she does. Raised in the world of aviation—her mother a United Airlines supervisor—Monica was offered both a full ride to Spelman and a job with United Airlines before college. But her heart was elsewhere: in the power of beauty. She chose instead to pursue cosmetology, eventually running her own beauty and barber school, salon, product line and nonprofit. That background came full circle in March 2025, when Monica spearheaded a transformative Natural Hair Empowerment event at Hartfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in honor of the CROWN Act recently passed in Clayton County. The CROWN Act, which stands for “Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair,” is legislation that prohibits race-based hair discrimination, ensuring that individuals are not denied employment or educational opportunities because of their natural hair texture or protective hairstyles.
