Pros

Great colleagues, good location in Durham, onsite cafeteria, free parking, newly refurbished building, hybrid work environment. Excellent work life balance and many of the senior managers and directors are fantastic. but at the end of the day, you work for a corporation, it's called work for a reason. after several years with the company, having zero outstanding debt, i can no longer afford to work here and i'm actively seeking a new role.

Cons

Salary is not even close to being competitive, benefits are not great, a 'raise' is considered 2% which is a cost of living increase. HR when conducting interviews are not very honest, promise you gas cards, opportunities for advancement, raises in line with performance, all of which is false. starting salary will be low and they'll assure you you'll be rewarded with a bonus, but nobody knows the percentage and the calculation is a secret. Bonuses are also not guaranteed. mostly the salary and benefits are the biggest issues. expect a salary offer at least 30% lower than market. benefits, if you have a family, make sure your partner has good benefits. car lease program is OK but the insurance is quite high and is paid per vehicle so you likely will pay more than you would if you just bought a car. there is no pension plan, just an RRSP matching up to 5% (maybe it's 4%). the hiring process is incredibly lengthy - expect several weeks, 'fast' would probably be 2 months. don't even bother with the HR department, you're lucky if they even respond to your email.

Pros

Retirement benefits are good as permanent employee

Cons

Very difficult to become permanent employees, no possible advancement. Old type of managerial culture and does not involve employees in basic decision making. Do not recommend as company has patterns to lie and use employees.

Pros

Volkswagen pays very well and the bonus is pretty awesome. My management is very good, but is the rarity within the organization. Volkswagen offers many training and development opportunities.

Cons

The culture is very hierarchal and the management does not plan strategically at all. We have foreign managers in every two to three years, so there is no consistency or organizational investment. They are usually out for themselves and their next promotion. Also, the morale is poor because our hourly employees work a ton of overtime. Also, it is a bus driver environment, where folks will run you over and back the bus up.
