A Disappointing End

Pros

- The training department is robust and truly sets up the site teams to be wonderful at their job - The communities are usually higher-end and desirable. Lots of lease-ups and fun renovation opportunities - Company events are fun on the surface and provide opportunities for co-workers to spend time together. - Certain VPs and executive leaders have good hearts and minds, and working with them is a pleasure.

Cons

- As many reviews mention, a majority of Senior Leadership is overwhelmed, ill-equipped, and reactionary. There is very little strategic vision and even less follow-through from them. - The culture is beyond toxic, especially at the corporate level. There is a legacy of cliques that work hard to protect their own. VPs allow abusive "locker room" talk with and about employees, commenting on looks, age, dress, etc. If you are not comfortable with it, you're out of the group and may miss out on legitimate opportunities for growth. - Company events promote drinking to excess. Senior leadership becomes embarrassingly intoxicated and uses other substances freely. Group outings have included strip clubs. If you're not interested in playing along, you're left behind. -Professional performance reviews are replaced by gossip, and when an associate has made mistakes, they are treated poorly and squeezed out rather than held accountable. -Many decisions are made to obscure real problems from VG's clients and save face, which leads to inconsistent and irrational decisions that just get handed to the site teams.

Pros

Village Green offers a fantastic benefits program with affordable health insurance - even for those providing for their families.

Cons

In the last few years, Village Green has managed to go from a great place to work to one of the most abusive environments possible. Me and my teammates were berated on a daily basis, with constant gaslighting and ridicule from upper management. It was a good day if no one left the office in tears or feeling like a failure. HR admitted on several occasions to multiple employees that they were aware of the concerns and harassment we endured, but they made no effort to help us or even make us feel validated when speaking to them. Working in the corporate office is a popularity contest gone wrong. I feel terrible for the on-site associates who are making next to nothing and will be treated like garbage when their property either transitions or leaves the portfolio.
