Pros

You work in the ski industry in Colorado, that is pretty cool. I feel I have been compensated well. The work life balance is very good. There are times when it is incredibly hectic and busy, during peak times, but for a retail environment is not nearly as time demanding as other companies. Overall, a great place to work and a place to succeed and advance for the right people.

Cons

Unreasonable or entitled people and people working the system, internal and external.

Pros

The benefits are huge. Free ski pass, huge discounts on gear, travel and insurance. Employee health and dental insurance are outstanding and generally low-cost. Shifts are designed so that if we had a powder day, I was able to go skiing for a few hours and also get a full 8+ hours of work.

Cons

The pay isn't great, but I suppose if you factored in all of the benefits, it becomes competitive for the industry. Due to the transient nature of the area, upper management seems wary of promoting anyone that may leave within the next 12 months, which means that qualified employees are often stuck until they've been around long enough to demonstrate they aren't going anywhere. Again, I get it, though it can be frustrating.

Cons

Long hours during season. Payroll can be a sticky point. Very tight budgets. Working holidays. On your feet most of the day. Highly paced environment
