Hard work is not rewarded

Pros

Free snacks and free drinks.

Cons

Hard work is not rewarded. Hierarchy. No room for growth. There is no transparency from managers on key decisions that impact you and the team. HR tend to lie. Some people are blamed by managers for expressing their opinions. Managers prefer people who are submissive, not people who can solve problems. Most people think that soft skills are more important than technical skills. So if you find Unity products have a lot of bugs, you should not be surprised. Our social media is being monitored, and we may be warned or asked to leave because of comments on social media, even if the comments are not related to work.

Pros

- Reasonably decentralized across the world, people are free to speak their mind and sometimes their opinion is accepted too. - If you have your own initiative and drive and put effort to pushing it forward, it is not impossible to get it done. But you need both investment in influencing people and putting the hard work. - Employees both from business and engineering are different but both enthusiastic and helpful to each other.

Cons

- To get things done and pushed forward in a decentralized organization a lot of influencing and socializing may be needed. It is a bit like running your own company and it can be stressful. - Because of the huge degree of freedom everyone has in this organization, politics is quite complex and you need to be diplomatic and careful to navigate in the organization well. - The business and engineering people are great but not so sure about the HR guys. I wouldn't say bad, but I didn't yet feel anything positive yet.

Pros

Perks are awesome, you get free lunch, more vacations than most places, possibility to work from home, free snacks and beer, ergonomic desks, great environment. Projects are pretty interesting in general.

Cons

Had a bad experience with management, at least on the team I worked on. Tasks are poorly defined, feedback is minimal until things go wrong and it's already too late. Weird people get promoted too. For exemple, you may see people with excellent coding skills but bad social and management skills going higher in the hierarchy. Management is not really good at time tracking properly neither. Another bad is that there is no support to get ideas through. For exemple, I tried to push the idea of having a store similar to the Epic one, and it died somewhere in Singapore with higher ups not feeling confident in taking the risk.
