Pros

My top three Pros: 1. Colleagues are all genuinely very nice and willing to help 2. Onboarding process is very organized 3. WFH and wellness allowances I believe that when you're going through the interview process, not only is the company interviewing you, but you're also interviewing the company. From day one, the senior recruiter, Sarah Rideout, was amazing. My first touch point and I was sold! She notified me every step of the way, who I wold be meeting with next, what type of interview it would be, the duration of the interview -- all so that I could come prepared. I've never had an HR team be so welcoming and transparent! Really appreciated the process. Going through the onboarding process, it's the best one I've experienced to date. Keeping in mind, I joined the company during the pandemic and everything is done remotely. There's ample amount of ways you can self-educate, and everything is at your own place. If you are self-sufficient and a curious person, you will love the onboarding process. Last but not least, my team mates have been nothing but generous and kind. Everyone I've met to date is living and breathing Unity's values. It's refreshing to meet like-minded individuals that are all working towards common goals.

Cons

I haven't ran into any yet, but I'm still fairly new so this could change!

Pros

Good benefits, good WLB, passionate colleagues, competent exec level leadership

Cons

Very low compensation, limited career growth opportunities, a fair bit of dead weight, unnecessary middle management, and some very questionable engineering practices.

Pros

Creating cutting edge software in a new and burgeoning field. If you're used to a big and nasty corporate tech company, this one is still a baby, so it's teeth aren't that sharp yet. You may find this as an opportunity to get on the corporate ladder now before it's too late. Though it's still a fairly liberal and progressive company where the employees still want to "do the right thing" ...

Cons

... the management increasingly doesn't want to get caught "being evil". Very few of the original creatives and technicians still work at the company barring the very few at the top of the core. Corporate pressure has replaced virtually all of people who brought Unity into fruition as it lumbers its way into the big leagues as a corporate juggernaut. The company is now more interested in KPI driven pseudo-goals rather than intelligently focused achievements. This leads, not to a meritocracy, but to that typical corporate bullying and power taking that is seen in all big companies. Perhaps this was inevitable.
