Pros

Benefits, they pay you, good for future jobs, experience, some coworkers are OK to work with

Cons

Stiff, rigid, passive aggressive culture with elements of fear in the air. You can hear a pin drop in the office because everyone is so scared. Step out of line and you will have a target on your back. No opportunities to advance. Overworked and underpaid. Little to no raises, so your salary stays flat for years, decades even (by design). Promotions are non existent. Bad behavior is encouraged. Lazy employees get coddled while hard working employees are worked right down to the bone. If your smart, keep your mouth shut and dont let it be known, because you will expected to do everything and take the fall for anything that goes wrong. All the while, credit for your ideas and triumphs are given to your managers. Favoritism and discrimination is rampant. Work life balance is almost non existent. Managers punish employees they do not favor with low scores on performance reviews which equal low raises and career death for that employee.

Pros

Stability - as in your job will never go anywhere because there's no growth opportunities here. Unless you can get into Corporate down the street. 401K match Merit increases - no matter how little still good

Cons

-low pay compared to other companies -declining health benefits every year -they try to make you stay by taking a portion of your bonus and buying their stock with it ( you don't have a say in this) and it doesn't fully vest till 5 years later -no growth opportunities -old conservative managment style -open door policy is bogus -if you can sit at your desk for 10 hours and seem like you're working, then you're more productive than the person who only took 8 hours to do their job and leaves at 5pm -stuck in the old mind set when the company was founded in 1900 -the truck drivers make more than you do in a management role in a cube -expect to sacrafice weekends and have no other life than work for them ...basically like a nurse on call 24/7 -Cult and militaristic mentality running through the veins here

Pros

Great for: drug addicts/ alcoholics, racists, homophobes and transphobes, incompetent and lazy management, gossips and bullies, the mentally unstable, sexist, people who manipulate the system, family and friends of management and of course sexual predators. In my 10yrs of working within various departments at UPS I've seen an overwhelming amount of toxicity. When I was a union employee the non union supervisors would call themselves and each other slave drivers. After I moved out of the union and into an office I've seen more than one person become so ill due to drug use they needed to be removed by EMS.... just to return sometime later. I've witnessed management gossip about transgender and homosexual employees. I've seen them tell their friends private employee information. I've watched them bully and spread misinformation about employees to strengthen their position within a certain clique. I've seen people who are accused of sexual harassment be moved to other parts of the company and be promoted into management. I've seen managers single out individuals seemingly based on gender, race or perhaps youth and their level of attractiveness. I've seen people with 20+ years of experience be passed over for promotions for people with significantly less experience when education is the same for both. In general UPS is a cesspool of toxicity and bureaucracy with a PR team that seriously deserves a raise.

Cons

See the facetious list of pros but also...their Covid-19 response. While I understand that we provide an essential service during this pandemic, it's also true that UPS is making the cheapest effort possible to keep their employees safe. Communication is non-existent employees have been told that infected individuals "are none of our concern". Confirmed cases are hidden until weeks have passed and no sanitation is performed afterwards. There was even a case of a household member of an infected individual be told my management to come into work. Since I work in an office we have the option to work from home but...due to management incompetence and possible favoritism a process that took a week to be handled by one manager is going into a third week when being handled by another. In addition to that shared computers are randomly distributed to take home. So there is a chance you will get a computer used by a sick person. Did I mention hand sanitizer is not provided and while we were apparently provided wipes this wasn't communicated effectively.
