Pros

Good career opportunities. Global employer. Options for volunteering and internships are offered. Local people are generally nice to work with. Helen Clark is awesome and a wonderful leader. Lots of learning opportunities.

Cons

Need to work with existing bureaucracy, which can at times be cumbersome to speedy implementation intents. May end up in a country which you may not like.

Pros

The internship is fulfilling when you're working on a country or thematic report. You feel like the work you do actually makes a difference.

Cons

More often than not, the work assigned to interns is incredibly monotonous and boring. The Washington office of the UNDP is probably one of the most boring places I've ever had the misfortune of working. There is minimal interaction among the staff and the interns. It's dead silent most of the time.
