Pros

I had a desk. And a chair. Nice coworkers to work with.

Cons

Working at this company wears you down little by little every day until you begin to value your self worth. Upper management should be utterly ashamed of themselves that they have created such a destructive and unhappy workplace for so many people based on fear and blame. They offer no development opportunities at all and the "change" in job titles is usually in name only with the actual job not changing whatsoever. To even get a promotion, the statistic system used is completely flawed, with no transparency about how to achieve good scores and constantly changing targets (which I'm pretty sure is illegal). The below-inflation pay raises are equally ridiculous - effectively taking a pay cut after a year of working hard is far from rewarding. Getting a bonus was just as hard - receiving just one negative feedback on a job wiping it out completely. I have never met anyone in the company that actual likes working there, which is not a good long-term business model. When I spoke to someone in my new office, they mentioned that they sometimes use translation agencies. I asked which ones and they said SDL and TransPerfect - guess which one I told them not to use anymore?

Pros

There is a potential for growth if you don't mind being demeaned, overworked and underpaid. If you are planning to use this job as a stepping stone onto to something better, it will give the experience you would need.

Cons

Salaries are too low for the amount of hours you work: You are expected to work from 8:30 - 6 (47.5 hours/week). However if you don't stay in the office late you will be bullied into working extra hours for no pay. The job is very demanding and if you make the slightest mistake you will be crucified for it, even if the mistake is not directly your fault. I am verbally abused regularly. Your responsibilities are not made clear giving the directors the opportunity to dump as much work as they possibly can on you. You are treated like a machine. If you complain to someone you are told to shut up and accept it.

Pros

You get to meet friendly people from all over the world (but everyone leaves within 6 or 8 months, as this is a horrible place to work)

Cons

- You have to work many hours, a lot of times 12 hours a day, and don't get compensated - It's like working in a factory, everyone is responsible for one small part of the process and the work is not intellectually rewarding at all - You feel like a robot in the end doing the same trick over and over again (with someone yelling behind you all the time that you have to go faster and faster) - The management is negative, encouraging staff to give each other 'CAFs', negative feedback. - If you get a 'CAF', or your job was late, you have to send an email to the management why this happened, but with the workload you've got it's impossible to finish a job the way you'd like to finish it. If they respond, they send you a comment about how stupid it was what you did etc. - You get encouraged to treat the linguists bad, underpay them so that the company can gain more money - There are illegal practises like don't paying the overhours, a union which isn't really a union (seniors that really won't stick up for the rights of the employees) - It's impossible to take a day off, because within your team there's only one person at a time allowed to take the day off and for some reason it's never you. Also, on bank holidays mostly you'll have to work (the normal long hours). - They overload you with work and responsibilities even if you can't take it anymore, it's impossible to finish the amount of work within the normal timeframe. Even if you work 12 hours a day the management pushes you to the limit. - The senior management comes from the same company and has been working at TPT for years, they start to accept the horrible work environment.
