mom & pop = you're screwed on benefits, pay, overtime, and hours. franchise agreement rules and regulations make it hard for the owner to do business efficiently and profitably. The owner is usually a thrifty tightwad who will not hire the best people, neither pay them well, so you have a constant revolving door. Customer service suffers, hard-working co-workers suffer, and the owner remains frustrated in perpetuity because he/she will not pay the employees!

Decent pay, very stable hours (32/week for me) small raises every 4 months or so based on performance. Fun environment to work in and interesting and challenging orders to fulfill at times.

Cons

Depending on management, you may work alone a lot at times. It can be busy, and the experience is very much up in the air as these are franchised stores. My owners in particular were great, but I have heard some negative things regarding others. No benefits besides 10% employee discount.

Horrible micromanagement. Too many lead and mamangment people in software development team. The number of management people and the number of software engineer is 1：1, ie. one software engineer has one manager to manage him/her, they use the Agile estimated hours to count actual work of the software engineer. Not a fire place for software engineer. Seeking other opportunities now.
