Great coworkers smooth over many of the rough edges
Pros
Global markets is generally a very pleasant work environment. It has an easy work culture, good leave policy and I have great coworkers with a strong team spirit. You also have a lot of autonomy with respect to your personal goals and work directions. The new offices are also great and working in Rosebank is a big step up from working in the CBD.
Cons
1) Very top heavy so career advancement is difficult 2) Business plans are occasionally very ad hoc or difficult to understand 3) The structure of global markets is very rigid so creating new business units is very difficult 4) The blue treacle will catch you at some point, some people in the larger institution seem to be focused on slowing down enhancements and improvements instead of being business enablers
