Pros

Lovely team. Good pension scheme

Cons

They do not care about branch colleagues at all. They were 100s of branch closures in 2025 and they did not give us an option to transfer to another branch. They made us all redundant. There is also no career growth at all. Once you are in a role, it is impossible to get promoted.

Pros

Santander pays better then most large banks and their PTO/ Sick time/ STD,LTD and other benefits are good.

Cons

District Managers run their branches like a mafia and their leaders(VPs) are the BIG Bosses that put tons of pressure on them. This management style flows down hill and it creates a highly toxic environment at the branch level. Favoritism is also something that is highly practiced by many DMs. If you are performing well they expect you to keep this way 24/7 but the moment your numbers are not as high as the last sales cycle then you get thrown in the trash. There is rampant and under the table discrimination going on all over this company. When it comes to making phone calls to existing or new customers be ready to pound the phone HARD and if you got no business from these calls you better be ready to have a good answer or else your on the chopping block. Leaders overall and HR do not care about the employees mental health as they just want to get people in the door to produce. The worst part of my 2024 was when HQ let go of front line staff and this caused branch managers and BOMS to actively run teller drawers on top of completing their own duties. When the lay offs were about to happen the DMs leader (VP) told us to let said staff member know they were going to be laid off right then and there and we were told to SHOW NO EMOTION!... Overall I am glad I do not work there anymore because this job almost lead me down a dark path that would've had irreversible consequences for my well being and it is all because of my experience with my DM and other leaders and other situations that occurred.
