Pros

Autonomy - unlike other reviews, micromanagement was close to none at my office. I wasn't evaluated based on weekly/monthly KPIs. I was allowed to do what I wanted to do Time management - work hours can be long sometimes but I was able to leave whenever I wanted to (but this applies only if you are constantly making placements) Colleagues - collaborative, helpful, and cheerful but competitive sometimes. I felt that some tensions within the office was good actually - for motivating consultants. Salary - it was decent, if not, higher than the market average with quarterly bonuses that can double your base salary Free fruits/coffee - who doesn't like that?

Cons

Lack of management - management was chaotic, no guidelines, no training, and no information to mentor and guide junior consultants. Fresh starters, undergrads, former recruiters were all lined up in a same start-line with no guidance - we had to figure out by ourselves how to make money Too revenue-focused - yes I know, I'm not a recruiter but more a sales guy, but I felt RW was too revenue-focused. Senior management did not care about maintaining long-term relationship with clients, but more about 'how much retainers we sold' or how many 'replacements' or 'place then pull him out within a year' tactics went successful. At the end it was just a numbers game Discretionary bonus - it's NOT transparent at all which I find it quite silly, considering other agencies offer a clear, transparent bonus structure. This only demotivates consultants. Career opportunity - sooner or later you will realize that you cannot continue this job for more than 10 years.

Thank you very much for your review. I’m not sure when you worked for us but in the areas of management development and consultant training we believe we are consistently making improvements, so I’m sorry if you somehow feel that you missed out on this. In a fast-moving industry, there are times when we experience some management change. However, for the last few years we’ve never had a situation where a team has not been managed directly by either a manager, associate director or director. Our associate directors in Tokyo all have over 7-8 years’ experience at Robert Walters and our directors, over 10 years. That sort of tenure is pretty high for our industry and indeed, for most industries. I’ve been working here for 19 years, so I truly believe this is a place where you can have a long-term career. All consultants go through a 6-week induction and we ask people to do this regardless of experience level. This training covers everything from headhunting, to candidate interviews and systems use - everything we feel a consultant needs to successfully make placements. Additionally, all consultants are given online training each quarter and offsite training at around 6 months. Managers also receive regular on-the-job training and attend lunch and learn sessions, so training is something we believe should be continuous throughout our people’s careers with us. We often receive great feedback from staff on the quality of our training, so I would be keen to hear from you exactly what you feel is missing, in terms of guidance. In our industry, long-term relationships with clients are built on successfully filling jobs with quality candidates. This is a cornerstone of our business. Retainers are a means to more successfully help a client fill a job. I can also assure you that under no circumstances do we condone ‘place then pull him out within a year’. Our team profit share bonus system is based on an individual’s contribution to that profit. It’s designed to help avoid some of the problems you describe in terms of lack of support and guidance, in that we can reward people for acting in the interests of the team and broader business, rather than just prioritising themselves. In my experience, this is often the norm in commission based schemes. Please feel free to contact me directly should you wish to discuss any of the points above or provide any further information on your experience with us. Pros

The "workers" within the department are down to earth, hardworking and always open to teaching and sharing of information to better the team.

Cons

Management did nothing but blame others, knock a large percentage of the departments confidence and general get involved in tasks far below pay grade only because they were VIP users or people who may complain.

Pros

Great career starter and experience building location at Jacksonville, FL. Director really does care about people's success. Employee Engagement Activities.

Cons

There is no option for any actual growth! Yes you can build experience here, but you will not have ANY upward mobility. While success is encouraged the GSC in Jacksonville is a call center. "Global Service Center" is just code for "Call Center." Most roles are just different levels of administration. The clients, Barclays and Deutche Bank, treat Resource Solutions like an untrained admin --- does not care about leaderships opinions or advice, and ALWAYS get the last word. Yes Resource Solutions provides them the service of an RPO, but it should have SOME self-respect as a company and have SOME form of a spine when dealing with clients' pushback. There is no such thing as pushback towards the client. This has created an atmosphere of constant finger pointing until it trickles down to the Recruitment Coordinators and they inevitably get blamed for everything. Neither Barclays nor Deutche Bank have ANY respect for the company. The only way you can succeed and have the slightest chance of a promotion in this company is if you are English/British OR you work in the NYC location and start in the company as a Direct Recruiter or higher level position.

Thank you for leaving a review, although I'm obviously disappointed to hear your experience of working with us didn't live up to our high expectations. Let me address your comments one by one. Firstly, career progression (or perceived lack thereof) is an issue that's been highlighted in our most recent employee engagement survey, and also anecdotally before. That's why we're currently trialling a new 'Career Paths' programme with a large London-based team. This programme is providing new and enhanced roles that help our people progress sooner, but with real responsibility and career development, not just in name only. I'm really proud of Career Paths, and I'm really hopeful it will have a positive impact for our people and our business. Your point about our clients is, from my own experience, not completely accurate. One of our four core values is 'client focused', and we pride ourselves on providing the very best, responsive and bespoke service to our fantastic clients. However, that should never result in finger-pointing or unrealistic demands being set. I'm disappointed and concerned to hear these allegations, and I would be very interested to hear more details if you'd be willing to contact me directly at kirsty.adams@resourcesolutions.com. Maybe we can work out a solution that benefits your former colleagues, and future employees. As for your final point, I'm afraid that I completely disagree. The head of our Jacksonville Service Centre is American, and so are the vast majority of the team leaders. Our global business is full of examples of people starting in the most junior positions and then growing their careers to lead teams, services, accounts and even regional accounts. I regret that you feel this might not have been the case during your time with us, but I can assure you that we do all we can to hire and promote from within our business, and within locations and regions wherever possible. Regardless, thank you for your efforts while working with us, and I wish you well with the next phase of your career. Many thanks, Kirsty Adams (Global HR Director, Resource Solutions)
