Pros

Our core mission and so many big hearted co-workers.

Cons

Poor middle/lower management (allowed to stay in position way too long), upper management and HR support lower management without regard for employees, pay based on longevity and not merit resulting in very low pay raises. Relatively no chance for advancement, promotions given to "yes" people in place of the much more qualified, resulting in the poor management cycle. Behind on the tech side of business. Benefits not what they used to be.

Pros

St Joseph does a very good job of holding true to its core values. Employees are for the most part treated fairly and feel like they are contributing to the greater good of society. Furthermore, employment at St Joseph is quite stable (the organization appears to try to avoid layoffs at all costs), and fosters a strong work life balance.

Cons

St Joseph’s organizational structure does not lend itself to very effective communication between locations or business units. This lack of communication has helped foster the implementation of quite a few duplicative/conflicting business processes, and the formation of rigid organizational silos. In addition to limited communication, St Joseph—as a whole—is fairly averse to change, with Senior Management appearing reluctant to stand up to ministry requests that are contrary to the greater good. This results in projects taking much longer to complete (and becoming overly complex to operate) than they would at other organizations.

Pros

Salary and benefits are adequate. Employees are still a good group to work with.

Cons

"Under New Management", which is accelerating the rate of decline over the previous management. Management is treating employees as if they are replaceable parts, not people. Staffing is being cut in all areas and morale is plummeting, and all management can think about is "competing with Kaiser", while raising prices and driving away customers (patients and physicians).
