Pros

Worked with great, professional and knowledgeable group of people.

Cons

Management, management and management. They really feel the department is their own little kingdom. To them, you should be lucky you have a job.

Hit or Miss

Pros

There are still some good people here running departments who not only want the best for their department/team, but also want to do good work. The lot is the most beautiful one of all the studios however, even if you don't get much time to enjoy it. Some fun work perks such as free movie screenings. If you're lucky and are picked as someone's favorite then you will go far regardless of your experience or knowledge. You can be an intern one year and then 2 years later run a department.

Cons

Unfortunately, it's really hit or miss here because of Paramount's annual tradition of restructuring and layoffs. You'll have one good boss one year and then they'll restructure to get rid of some people and you'll report to someone else the next year. Also, the annual purging makes people very insecure of their future since layoffs happen with really no rhyme or reason. Layoffs seem to happen whether you've been here 8 years or 8 months. Disorganization and lack of innovation starts from the top. We aren't challenged, rewarded or even encouraged to do new creative work. Just see what other studios have done and then figure out how we can replicate. Promotions aren't based on merit but on who you know and who's butt you kiss.

Pros

-Beautiful lot, lots of actors and stars about, cool history -Lots of free screenings of non-Paramount content & Paramount movies -Cheap benefits package -Employee Resource Groups and their activities -Org is lean and flat so you can move up quickly if you play the game

Cons

-Change and Innovation hampered by politics and fear of exec management/Viacom -Sr. Management is more concerned with CYA than actually making anything better -Low Employee Morale -Low Job Security (yearly lay-offs) -Low Pay (20-50K lower than peers at other majors) -3% annual raise is the maximum (and no one gets the rating to get this rate) -Poor performers don't get fired or put on performance plans, they get shuffled around until there's layoffs -Good people don't stay, bad employees stay forever
