Pros

The best reason to work here is for your colleagues. Overall, they are a decent bunch of people who are trying to make an impact on the world. Some if the best times were when we were allowed to be ourselves and not some clone.

Cons

No one stays in the same role for longer than two years. It is as if everyone plays "hot potato" and moves onto other positions within Novartis. This is great for career development, but terrible for customer continuity.

Pros

Large company with numerous projects will keep you constantly busy but with reasonable timelines owing to good planning in advance. Most people are decent and qualified with very few outliers. Excellent training and reasonable growth opportunities. I did not encounter any of the discriminatory behaviours that have been described in the media lately.

Cons

Size can be a disadvantage when trying to make an impression and move up. There are many others at your position and it is difficult to stand out. It is especially so for Clinical Managers (CM) who have 3 levels to go through (CM; Senior CM; Expert CM) before they can really start moving up. If you want a stable company with decent benefits, that's a great place to be. If you are looking for a quick move up, not so.

Pros

The company does great things for people - the company helps people live longer, healthier lives. The employees are professional, well-educated, and are competent.

Cons

The leadership listens to consultants too frequently - the consultants want to sell an "idea" that may or may not be feasible. The leaders need their own "fresh" ideas to sell up the chain of command, and so they buy into many of the worthless "ideas" of consultants and believe that young, inexperienced consultants actually have better "ideas" than proven, dedicated employees. The leaders need to wake up and FIRE all consultants, and FORMER consultants that are now employees. All of the consultants lack the dedication and operational expertise to actually take an "idea" and execute. The consultants have repeatedly sold leaders "ideas" that are quickly reversed by the new leaders of the organization who need to have thier own new, "fresh ideas". For example, reorganizing the company - how many times are we going to de-centralize, then centralize, then de-centralize again?
