Pros

The mission and programs are interesting.

Cons

Toxic work culture, poor functional management that is clearly untrained and not empowered, lack of support or promotional growth, and crazy hours. You literally have to get offers from elsewhere and threaten to leave for them to take you seriously. If your employees have to bond around how bad it is just to cope, you know you’re doing something wrong. Truly a waste of my years both professionally and probably off of my overall life from the enormous stress.

Abusive Manager

Pros

My direct team was really good and friendly. They helped when needed and pushed me to be better.

Cons

If you are offered a job with GBSD Training, do not take it if there's another offer. Management was abusive. They would gaslight people constantly. They would belittle their employees. They had so many double standards. My manager said it was against company policy to work from home then they would do it constantly. I had a coworker whose parents died on their way up and the manager refused to let them come in later. Another (male) coworker was about to get a degree and asked if they could start after they finished, they were told no. Then a young woman was in the same situation and they were given permission to wait 6 months before starting so they could finish. They underpay everyone even if they have 20 years of experience (they'll pay them as someone with 5-10 years). My manager gaslighted me too. They kept trying to say I told them a different as my last day of work (a solid week past what I actually told them) then they tried to say I submitted a different day even though Workday proved them wrong. Too many negatives to mention, honestly.

Pros

Negotiate a high salary from the start as raises are only 2.5-3% even if you work your butt off and kiss butt. Excessive turnover will allow you to meet lots of people for a short periods of time. Dulles campus is on the W&OD trail if you want to bike to work or go for lunchtime walks. 6% 401k match (but need 3 year vesting)

Cons

If you're good at playing the 'Agile' game, you will love it here. Two week sprints of randomly assigned, meaningless tasks; never work on the same thing twice; glorified secretary scrum-masters add an extra layer of required butt kissing on a daily basis. Huge hiring events followed by huge layoffs - never know whether you're 'safe' from the choppin' block. Feel like number.
