Pros

- Great people - Free pop & water - Convenient office locations in downtown

Cons

- Management disguises the fact that they have no direction as changes to company focus - Good employees of all levels are leaving the company at a rapid rate, including C-level - No proactive measures to keep good employees and to propel the company forward, senior management actions taken are afterthoughts or reactive decisions to issues that arise - Promotions and accolades are not given based on merit, resulting in good employees quitting because they do not feel like they matter. The general feeling is that they could be the worst member on the team, and it will not make a difference - Layoffs in 2016 never properly addressed with remaining employees, especially amongst close knit teams. Remaining employees had to pick up the slack as a result and were not compensated accordingly. It is hard to remain positive as outcomes or changes are yet to be seen as a result of these layoffs - Financials and proper numbers for how the company is doing has never been disclosed in Townhalls since Matchbox became its own company - Long hours. Some teams generally work until 7 every night in office and also at night and/or on weekends - Says they encourages ideas for change, but ideas brought up are never implemented - Preaches focus on culture and wellness, but action has yet to be taken after 1+ year - Looking to be a tech focused company without the infrastructure or personnel to execute those roles in an effective manner - CEO does not take time to know his own employees

Hi there, thank you for the feedback. We do have great offices, so conveniently located in prime areas of each city that we operate in. I do wish we had an opportunity to address your points live but let me start by saying that we do have amazing employees and we do try our best to recognize them in every way that we can, not only through financial rewards, but also by having great programs like flexible work schedules (including Work from Home), many Social Events throughout the year, Wellness Program (in house massages!), Service Recognition Awards and so many other perks. Although at times, we have had to make changes in our direction which inevitably impacted some folks at all levels, such changes are not unique to us. All companies have to change in order to remain competitive in the market. Again, we are constantly evolving and the future sure looks bright at Maru. We would welcome the opportunity to meet with you live or hear from you directly so that we can better understand the points that you’ve brought up and help plan for the future. Please don’t hesitate to reach out: hrteam@marumatchbox.com. Thank you!

Disappointed

Pros

Variety of projects/clients is the only thing, unfortunately. There's a bunch more pros I want to say but then I'm reminded that those are from when we were Vision Critical, not after we became Matchbox...

Cons

If you're good at your job, you will have to work extremely long hours, but will rewarded just the same as all other employees when it comes to raises/bonuses. So much turnover. As such, perpetually understaffed. Distant leadership team that does not truly care about its people, but instead its investors. Very fragile systematic/operational processes. At the time of my departure, still no clear direction on what the offer/differentiating factors were.

Hi there, thanks for the feedback. We agree that we have a pretty impressive list of clients who continue to work with us, even after the split almost 3 years ago. But I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed during your time with us. It would’ve been great to address your concerns live while you were still here; as you’re aware, we are constantly seeking the thoughts and input from our employees because this is what helps us shape the kind of company that we are posed to be—a great one. Sometimes yes, we work long hours. And yes, there have been some departures from our company. This is not unique to Matchbox. Although it feels after the fact now, it would be nice to connect live and chat further about your thoughts and recommendations. Please reach out: hrteam@marumatchbox.com. Thank you!

Pros

great benefits, allows for flexibility in work schedule, some great managers and interesting work

Cons

still developing software, so everyone is figuring it out caught between legacy of Vision Critical/ Matchbox and the new eDR/Maru group vision, which is still a bit vague. lack of tech support and adequate training from the eDR team; the roll-out of new software felt rushed and incomplete as they separated from VC software aggressive sales targets but lack the tools to execute at the speed and agility that clients are expecting internal politics, silos and bureaucracy that bog down efficiency, and add drama over-time with no compensation; workloads are consistently too high for 8h days
