Pros

It's both challenging and fun working as a research assistant in MIT. I can work with excellent students. And the degree is treasured in the job market.

Cons

Course load is heavy. It's not easy to manage even I only take 2 courses in one semester. But anyway, challenging courses make me learn more.

Pros

hard working atmosphere, affiliation with MIT and overall reputation

Cons

Dishonest culture among facult. Has never graduated a minortiy PhD student in the 40+ year history of the program. 80% of students who graduate leave fusion research to work on wall street.

Pros

Access to professors, classes on anything you need, good libraries, most technical software is available, good lab facilities

Cons

Funding can be hard to obtain for more than 1-2 semesters at a time. Even as a student, you end up spending a fair bit of time trying to obtain funding for your research instead of actually doing your research.
