Interaction Design Foundation reviews

I’ve spent a good amount of time reading through the reviews here, especially the more critical ones, and honestly, my experience has been quite different. Working as part of the admin team of the company, I’ve seen firsthand how much effort goes into building and improving things behind the scenes. The website was recently redesigned, processes keep evolving, and there’s a real sense that nothing is ever just “good enough.” That can be intense at times, yes, but it’s also what makes the work meaningful. Some of the negative reviews seem to come from a mismatch in expectations more than anything else. This is not the kind of place where you can just float through. If you come in with a fixed mindset or expect things to be easy, you’ll probably struggle. but if you’re open to learning, willing to adapt, and actually want to grow, there’s a lot here for you. The founders are very present and genuinely involved. Guidance is there when you need it, but there’s also trust in people to take ownership. That balance doesn’t always exist in other companies, and it’s something I’ve come to really value. The team itself is driven and international, which adds a lot of energy to the day-to-day work. And the team trips are a highlight. Getting to meet colleagues from around the world in person adds a human layer that remote work often lacks. It’s not perfect, and yes, it can be demanding. That’s just the reality. But it’s also fulfilling in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’re part of it. There’s a genuine sense that the work contributes to something bigger, especially in making education more accessible globally. If you’re someone who wants structure, predictability, and a lighter workload, this might not be your place. If you’re motivated, curious, and willing to put in the effort, you’ll likely find it truly rewarding.
