Pros

the medical benefits are the reason I took this job. honestly, that's the only pro I can come up with....

Cons

I worked in the production area of h. douglas. I have over ten years of production experience so I have something to compare it to. the company sets a production quota that nobody can possibly live up to. your raise is based on your production numbers so its barely noticeable. The employee moral is so low that everyone walks around with a chip on their shoulder which just increases the already dreary feeling. The management spends the day, not seeing how the work situation could be improved, but, basically walks around making sure you don't so much as scratch your nose.employees are not allowed to talk so it is a long, boring shift.. I have witnessed on more than one occasion management yelling at employees like they're 5 year old children. once because the employee was gone more than 4 minutes to the restroom. eventually workers started to "hold it in" . A completely miserable environment. Without a doubt, the worst place ive ever worked

Pros

Hunter Douglas has an innovative learning management system. Offering Installers and Dealers access to important product information. Community of people that support learning about how the business works. Good employee pricing on blinds.

Cons

Hunter Douglas has taken a hit negatively with the recession. They need to better handle down turns in the market. IT/MIS has an outdated approach to technology and open source. Wasting money on Oracle when Apache Tomcat and MySQL are better alternatives.

Pros

The benefits are great. Really hit or miss amongst good and bad management; but most are flexible. Unlimited overtime. Literally. Okay tuition reimbursement.

Cons

No real work-life balance. Lots of overtime all the time including mandatory Saturday and Sunday shifts. You will work 30-40 Saturdays and 5-10 Sundays a year. The company has gone through a number of reformations in the last few years and the result is that it is simply not a great employer to work for any longer. You are simply a number. The company views its employees as a cost rather than an asset and this comes from the upper management on down. Despite claims to be open-door, the company is hardly that with a top-down management structure that punishes any sort of disagreement or differing opinion. While the benefits are extremely good, don't expect great pay or wage increases; the company views you as ultimately replaceable. If you want to build your career, there are literally no opportunities within the company. They have locked down staffing increases and cut wherever possible. Nepotism is rife.
