Pros

- Nice office - Some of the staff are nice -

Cons

- Where do I start? A lot of their recruiters are glorified retail sales reps - I used to be one of them!. They have no ethics, don't care about candidates, not much care for the account (only when they need to they'll turn it on) but also focused on the commission. I have seen a number of staff degrade a number of candidates on a daily basis, and email cv's to one another in amusement. I suppose that's what you get for employing uneducated sales reps. I worked at the head office at 107 Cheapside.

Thank you for your review. I'm disappointed to read your comments, especially about behavior towards candidates - this isn't at all in line with our culture or values so thank you for making me aware of it.

Pros

The location and view from the office is nice.

Cons

Prepare to feel like a tiny unimportant cog in a big sales machine. Hays is everything wrong with these type of corporate jobs. It's formulaic in its approach, unashamedly all about the profits, and set in its ways. The hours are long but people are convinced that in the end it's worth it. It's not.

Pros

The training they send you on genuinely is very good Well known name and PSL placements Clear career path

Cons

Extremely out of date mentality towards phone calls. Cold calling has its place but management are much more interested in numbers of calls than results. Constant micromanagement. Do things their way or the highway. No autonomy. The worst commission scheme I've come across - you're looking at around £1500 for 20k of billings. I now make around £3500 from the same. Basic salaries aren't the worst but are pretty poor. Looking busy is more important than being busy - very old school mentality around working hours etc. So much middle management who do very little and haven't recruited for years and are so out of the loop. You will be told constantly that Hays are the market leader - they are big and successful, but they are not respected and others do things much better. Don't fall for it!
