Pros

Flat-working environment, freedom and autonomy, commission, transparent promotion system and clear incentives, international working environment, extensive training from senior consultants to help you hone your sales and business development skills, free drinks every Friday, you are free from work on weekends because you cannot bring your work home with you (no email access outside of the office until you are at a higher consultant status. which has its pros and cons.)

Cons

Commission system is maybe a bit deceptive at first glance. You must always cover your base salary before you'll see any commission, so if what you billed does not exceed what it costs for Hays to pay you that month, you won't see a dime. Btw your base salary as an Associate Consultant is 3.5 million yen, which will go up to 4 million after 9 months which is the earliest you can get promoted to Consultant, but only if you meet your promotion target which is 12 million yen. (these facts are not necessarily negative for me but are helpful for anyone considering to join and thinking that it will be easy to get promoted. ). Depending on who you get as a manager, KPI expectations can be very different as well. Although I think from the stories I heard about Robert Walters etc, Hays may be more on the lenient side concerning meeting all your KPI's - focusing more on actual billing numbers and results.
