Pros

Finally listening to our consumers, crazy right? But glad it is happening. Hardest part is getting leadership to consumer groups because they don't believe what we report back

Cons

Culture is terrible, everyone is up or out, MBAs are the ones not smart enough to go into growing industry, 60 hour work weeks

Pros

1. GM is buying consumer-relevant companies like Annie's to expand consumer base 2. If you work from a home-based office, you have access to HQ resources without being stuck in the awful HQ environment. You can actually feel good about the work you do AND make a difference for your customers. 3. GM is still a reputable brand name. Opens doors

Cons

1. Company officers still think people have to be based in HQ office environment to be productive. Completely missing the point that people need to be happy in their personal life and professional life to maximize contribution. Mandatory HQ experience lacks vision and limits potential of field-based leaders. So short-sighted. 2. Have old-school thinkers in Consumer Foods marketing, sales and brand leader roles. Time to change the thinking and the leaders. Their poor leadership is devaluing a company that deserves better. 3. Cutting benefits to "fund the future". Severe impact to the present employees!

Pros

Opportunity to work on big, iconic brands. Almost everyone that works here is very smart. You are surrounded by amazing people. Nice HQ benefits (auto service center, workout facility, health facility, bank, etc)

Cons

Leadership is blind to what is holding the organization back from real change. It's a popularity contest for career progression--the people you know and the game you play seem to be more important than the work you put out. Culture is riddled with 'demand for transparency' without any actual transparency. Candor is viewed as 'whining' or bad attitude.
