Pros

The company has great benefits and works well with you on career pathing. There are many different fields and locations within GE and GE Healthcare allowing continued growth in the company for many years.

Cons

GE has an internal leadership program, which is high competition. If you are not a graduate of that program it is difficult to move up in the company, you often feel as though you have a glass ceiling that you can only break through if you are a program graduate.

Pros

Well known respected organization that one can be proud to work for. Pretty good about recognizing/rewarding individual and team accomplishments. Promotes team work. Lots of support available to field employees.

Cons

Significant salary inequities among field service engineers. Two individuals could be doing the same job, in the same area, one earning $45k the other $110k. One may have more years with company but after many years the skill set is the same. Low single digit raises across the board effectively increases the gap vs closing it. Lack of advancement opportunities in the field.

Pros

Historic brand with global presence and significant position in market. Dedicated and passionate employees. Unlimited PTO.

Cons

Lots of great talk, polished presentations, and appearance of world class - light on actions to meet the intent of the words. Any action that includes a cost is off the table as that is not "thinking with a founders mentality" or "leading with lean" or any of the other internal buzz-phrases that translate to "we will not spend money to improve our processes or our employee experience". Appearance and perception of positivity is prioritized over highlighting negative issues that should be addressed which has led to a false sense of "we are the best" in the corporate culture. It is incredibly difficult to break into GEHC from the outside, and once inside the company any input or feedback that is contrary to "this is the way we do things here" is almost immediately argued, minimized, or outright dismissed. Other than the unlimited PTO, employee benefits are some of the worst in industry as well as a travel policy that is incredibly limited. Any non-executive level role that requires travel, your quality of life is very negatively impacted with economy class required regardless of international travel duration. Be prepared to pay out of your own pocket while traveling ($50 daily meals limit) because any overage of T&E results in immediate and severe career-limiting response from leadership. No work-life balance, routinely working off hours including nights/weekends is accepted as the norm. and is typical workplace conversation. The only company Ive worked for with ZERO opportunity to participate in equity sharing, no employee stock purchase program or similar. You must be within the top-tier inner circle to be truly recognized. Entrance to the inner-circle requires drinking the koolaid, regularly working 70+hr weeks, and a minimum of at least 5y service.
