Pros

Good exposre by doing various transaction. If you want to learn, you could learn a lot from your colleagues, bankers and issuers. Leadership very lay back. Good work life balance.

Cons

No rigorous training program. You pretty much have to help yourself get up to speed. Not opportunity for promotion these days (used to be easy) given the downturn economy

Pros

Lifestyle is very good. Pretty much a 9-5 gig with some people working far less and even getting promoted in doing so. Younger analysts typically have direct access to management of entities they rate

Cons

Very stale environment. Upper management are not viewed by others (internally and externally) as the best talent. A number of hacks have been promoted because of loyalty to upper management. Low moral at middle to lower levels. Pay is much lower compared to competitors
