      Reliable, if not exceptional, private English School

      Pros

      Compared to other English schools in China EF is certainly one of the best to work for. They are established and generally know what they are doing, have a good ratio of foreign:chinese management to facilitate communication and have a strong sense of community among teachers.

      Cons

      There can be less flexibility than at other schools and their vacation policy is at times restrictive. Salary increases for staying at EF stop after 3 years and management opportunities are limited, leading to career stagnation.

      Great start in an international company

      Pros

      As a local teacher, I get to work with some great colleagues from Australia, America and the UK. I feel that teaching at EF has really helped me meet new people and also improve my English further. My Manager is really nice too. When I started, I had less classes, and I had someone to watch and help me improve. I was given great support until I was ready to teach.

      Cons

      A con for me, is that local teachers usually only teach up to elementary level. I think it would be great if I could try and teach an intermediate class. The annual party is quite close to spring festival. I had to miss it last year because I was still spending time with my family.

      Pros

      They really help you get settled in a new country. I felt supported. You're paid on time and there are a lot of development opportunities.

      Cons

      Your experience is greatly shaped by your manager, as all of the locations are different.
