Pros

Here, you as an employee and or client can suffer. Increased billing rates and ridiculous legal jargon will fill your daily activities, the company overhead is enormous. Lawyers run the whole company. Stantec will provide you with infior equipment, the slowest internet available, lackadaisical IT, less capable and more expensive "Prefered Providers", and then require much higher utilization for employees OR ELSE...... They will tell you, during aquisition meetings, that everyone has a place and a job. Additionally no one will be let go so don't worry. Just wait, it all changes and so many will be gone before you know it, including the clients and so much work. The Stantec moto is " We Do What is Right and People Come First".... Blaah Blaah Blaah. It is a scam. If you are acquired start looking for a new job, you will need to and WANT to. Within two years you will see why if you are not already gone. With Stantec employees come last, then clients, then the stock holder, and finally the management. Stantec wants and demands your soul and dignety. The Stantec upper management continuously prospers with huge paychecks and bonuses from acquisitions, while employees and clients suffer for these indiscretions.

Cons

All you need to do is read the pros section of this review. There you can see where great, happy, prosperous companies go to die. Stantec buys competition to "KILL" them. They do this because they cannot compete financially with their outrageous hourly rates and enonormous overhead. If you are a "Yes Man/Woman", then Stantec is the place for you to work. However; if, you are educated and respect yourself, go elsewhere and enjoy your life and career -please.

Pros

Hybrid Work and access to useful engineering tools

Cons

Projects are inconsistent in organization and structure (some good some bad). High (and strict) utilization requirements of >93% for entry level and mid level engineers results in overtime with overlapping work loads to avoid any downtime between projects. No development or mentorship strategy around work assignments, the main goal is to keep utilization up. Stantec has been very focused on cutting costs by offshoring, limiting conference attendance, reducing volunteer hours, no tuition reimbursement, multiple layers of approvals to attend in-office CPR training, etc. Very corporate environment and top heavy management with over 240+ “Vice Presidents” currently at the company. Difficult to get raises/promotions besides annual raise. Typical raise is ~3-5% with a good review depending on where your current salary is in relation to the pay range for your career level.
