Pros

Shell looks well after its staff. Attracts smart and well educated people. Very nice offices in The Hague (corp HQ) and Rijswijk (Upstream HQ) with free gym, in-house bank, hair dresser, Shell shop and great staff restaurant. Always travelled bz class and stayed in 4*+ hotels on intercontinental trips. If you are lucky to get selected, you can get into a long term career system that promotes you at each job change (4 yrs)

Cons

If you're interested into advancing your career, make sure to join the selected bunch (in Shell terms: L/C or SE potential). Slow decision making and bureaucratic organization. So better not rock the boat, unless the CEO asks you to. Anglo-Dutch style of management and culture.

Pros

Early career engineers are given significant ownership and exposure to complex operational challenges. Strong focus on safety, technical development, and collaboration across disciplines. Opportunities to work on high-impact projects, interact with senior leadership, and contribute to decisions affecting major assets and infrastructure.

Cons

Workloads can be demanding, and priorities can shift quickly based on operational needs. Decision-making processes can be slow due to organizational complexity, and geographic mobility may be necessary for certain career opportunities.
