Pros
Small office in the heart of San Francisco, easy to get to with public transportation. Very light work loads. Most (not all) employees friendly. The claim adjusters were all smart people who really knew their stuff and were good at their jobs.
Cons
The insurance industry as a rule is very straight-laced. Here it is very much the "we've never done it that way before!" mentality. Innovation, change, new ways of doing things were frowned on and heavily vetoed. Lots of nepotism, which means if you aren't related you are at the bottom of the totem pole. Very little work, which is fine if you like that sort of thing, otherwise it is boring as hell. IT support was also hell-- you were always to blame for whatever problem you reported and it took forever to get anything resolved. Old computer system for their main claim and expense tracking.
