Pros

Good perks&products, some very talented people & great hires to learn from, good training materials ( but often hard to know where to look), flexible family policy, fun events and approachable senior leaders. You can fly high if you are supported by a good manager and equally feel extremely frustrated if not, as the policies and opps are just as good as your manager lets them be for you. It's who you know here, which an be a pro if you are extraverted and good with building relations.

Cons

Favouritism & clicks, uncompetitive base salary, very slow promotion, unclear career progression, "dinosaurs" working there for 15-20 y+ and threatened by different thinking styles.

Pros

- Get to visit distilleries - Good at the start of your career to see equipment - Lots of responsibility very quickly

Cons

- Lack of instrumentation and data which can be frustrating. -Lack of management technical knowledge - no skills or knowledge required to be hired just to be an overly confident "leader" - Lack of training and given responsibility/oversight when not qualified such as for boilers. - Limited career progression for technical skills. If you are a manager and no relevant previous experience plenty of opportunity. - Nepotism and bullying - Bullying and hire/fire culture is a norm. Management promote staff because they go horse riding with them but not because they are qualified or experienced - definitely about who you know not what you know. - Health and safety very poor and concerning. Many of the distilleries are dilapidated and run down and no CAPEX budget available. Lack of technical management contributes to the poor process safety. - Poor salary - pays very low compared to other industries such as pharma, oil and gas, mining, nuclear - pretty much any industry - Exploitation of interns - interns hired on cheap wages but given the full responsibility of engineers as a way to cost cut and exploitation of the oil and gas crash. - Northern Scotland is a remote location and not much to do - good for a holiday but not to live - Only considered to be a good leaver if you retire otherwise treated as a bad leaver as stated by my previous line manager - short minded business outlook. I have worked for a large organisation prior to Diageo and work for one now and they are very poor in comparison to both.
